Hi Inshu, first of all, congratulations on your venture at Builure as a company director! So how is it being an entrepreneur? So what is Builure all about?
Thank you for your wishes! Being an entrepreneur is both exciting and challenging. As the company director of builure, I can work with various clients to optimise their Salesforce implementations. Our company specialises in providing on-demand Salesforce expertise, helping businesses make the most of their Salesforce investment by offering tailored solutions, training, and support. It’s a rewarding journey, and I’m looking forward to the growth and success of our company.
The initial standout feature on your LinkedIn profile was the banner image featuring you and your child. Like in many interviews, I don’t want to ask the age-old question of ‘how is it handling work and motherhood’. We are indeed proud to know that you are a mom entrepreneur. So our question is how have you evolved as a person juggling many demanding tasks?
Thank you for acknowledging my role as a mom entrepreneur. Juggling multiple demanding tasks has been a transformative experience for me. It has pushed me to become more organised, efficient, and adaptable in managing my time and priorities. I’ve learned to delegate effectively, set clear boundaries, and prioritise self-care to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Overall, this journey has taught me valuable skills in resilience and time management, making me a more well-rounded and capable individual.

For a migrant professional looking to explore a career in the Salesforce industry, here are the top 3 tips:

Start by gaining a solid understanding of Salesforce fundamentals. Could you share the most rewarding project or assignment you’ve undertaken in your career and also describe a challenging period you encountered? How did you manage to overcome that particular challenge?
Most Rewarding Assignment:
One of the most rewarding assignments in my career was when I delivered a technical workshop to underprivileged people from the slums of India and helped them land their first jobs in the technology industry without an official degree. Knowing that my work positively impacted their lives was a highlight of my career.
Challenging Period – Leaving a thriving career last year due to a health issue:
A demanding period in my life was when I had to leave my thriving career due to my health issues. It was a tough decision to step away from a job I loved, but my health and the well-being of my family had to take precedence. Managing this challenge requires careful planning, communication, and resilience.
How I Overcame the Challenge:
- Open Communication: I discussed my situation with my employer and colleagues early. Transparent communication helped them understand my circumstances and allowed us to explore potential solutions.
- Plan and Prioritise: I created a plan for managing my workload during my absence and prioritised essential tasks. Delegating responsibilities to trusted team members ensured that critical projects continued smoothly.
- Remote Work: During my maternity break, I worked remotely to stay connected with the workforce and offer guidance when needed. This helped maintain continuity.
- Self-Care: I prioritised self-care to ensure a healthy state of mind. This included regular check-ups, rest, and a family and friends support system.
- Reevaluate Career Goals: During this period, I also took the opportunity to reevaluate my career goals and work-life balance. It led to a decision to explore more flexible work options, eventually allowing me to start builure on my terms to help others like me.
Overcoming this challenge was a testament to the importance of adaptability, resilience, and maintaining a solid support system. It taught me valuable life lessons about balancing career aspirations with personal well-being and family priorities.
Numerous migrants share a common aspiration: securing employment, obtaining a home, and creating a brighter future for their children and families. These achievements are undoubtedly commendable. Yet, the question arises: how can we motivate them to step beyond their comfort zones and strive for more significant and ambitious endeavors, particularly among women migrants?
Motivating migrants, especially women, to pursue more ambitious endeavours requires a multifaceted approach:
- Access to Education: Providing access to education and vocational training is fundamental. In this time and era, university programs are not the only source of education. Women can opt for some job-specific training to expedite their job readiness. Making these programs accessible would be a key to promoting participation.
- Mentorship Programs: Establish mentorship programs that connect migrant women with successful role models who can inspire and guide them. These mentors can share their experiences, offer advice, and encourage ambition. There are multiple organisations like SheMentors already doing great work in this area.
- Support Networks: Foster support networks within migrant communities. Creating a sense of belonging and mutual support can boost confidence and provide a safety net for taking risks. For example, organising meetup groups like Vinesh Balan is doing.
- Promote Entrepreneurship: Encourage entrepreneurship and business ownership. Offer resources and training for aspiring migrant entrepreneurs, helping them turn their ideas into reality. It is still challenging for women to raise funds as they must have solid proof to be credible, which is again challenging as they don’t have funds.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Be sensitive to cultural norms and values that might impact a woman’s choices. Cultural awareness can help tailor initiatives to be more effective and respectful of diverse backgrounds. Respect their choices of staying at home. Treat empathy as a strength and avoid dismissing it as non-assertiveness.
- Highlight Success Stories: Share success stories of migrant women who have achieved significant goals. These stories can serve as powerful motivators and examples of what is possible, which this platform is already doing. Kudos!
- Access to Financial Resources: Ensure access to financial resources, microloans, or grants that can support ambitious projects and business ventures. builure is running frequent such programs.
- Advocate for Gender Equality: Advocate for gender equality both within migrant communities and in society at large. When women feel empowered and equal, they are more likely to pursue ambitious endeavours.
- Community Engagement: Encourage active participation in the local community. Volunteering and community engagement can build skills and confidence and expand networks.
- Cultural Exchange: Promote cultural exchange and integration. Encourage interactions between migrants and the host culture, which can broaden perspectives and stimulate ambition.
Motivating migrants, particularly women, to aspire to more significant endeavours involves creating an environment where they feel empowered, supported, and confident in pursuing their dreams. It’s about breaking down barriers and providing opportunities for growth and success beyond the initial goals of employment and housing.
How do you believe the Australian community currently supports women in their career endeavors? Do you think there is room for additional support to further empower them?
Australia has made significant strides in supporting women in their career endeavors, but there is always room for improvement and additional support to further empower them.
Current support mechanisms in Australia include:
- Equal Opportunity Legislation: Australia has solid anti-discrimination laws that promote equal opportunities for women in the workplace.
- Paid Parental Leave: The government provides paid parental leave to mothers and fathers, allowing women to balance their careers and family life more effectively.
- Workplace Flexibility: Many Australian workplaces offer flexible work arrangements, which can be particularly beneficial for women with family responsibilities.
- Gender Diversity Initiatives: Various industries and organisations have implemented gender diversity programs and initiatives to promote women’s leadership and career advancement.
- Networking and Mentorship: There are numerous women’s networking groups and mentorship programs that help women connect, learn, and progress in their careers.
However, challenges like the gender pay gap and underrepresentation of women in leadership roles still exist. To further empower women in their career endeavours, Australia can consider the following:
- Closing the Gender Pay Gap: Continued efforts to close the gender pay gap are essential. This includes pay transparency, regular pay audits, and promoting negotiation skills among women.
- Leadership Development: More leadership development programs tailored to women’s needs can help them advance to executive positions.
- Support for Return to Work: Enhanced support for women returning to work after career breaks, such as parental leave, can facilitate smoother transitions.
- Accessible Childcare: Affordable and accessible childcare options can ease the burden on working mothers.
- Mental Health Support: Recognizing and addressing the mental health challenges often accompanying career and family responsibilities is crucial.
- Encouraging Male Allies: Encourage men to be allies in the fight for gender equality in the workplace.
- Public Awareness Campaigns: Awareness campaigns can challenge stereotypes and promote the value of diversity in the workforce.
While Australia has progressed, the journey toward full gender equality in career opportunities and outcomes is ongoing. Additional support and initiatives can further empower women to achieve their career goals and contribute to a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
